What happens on the day
Come face-to-face with some of the world’s most captivating animals during this one-of-a-kind Animal Encounter at the Oglebay Good Zoo. Families with children as young as 2 can get in on the fun and learn what it takes to become a real-life zookeeper!
Your wild day begins at the main entrance of the Oglebay Good Zoo. Located in Wheeling, West Virginia, this incredible zoo is the only institution in the state that is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). It’s home to 68 different types of animals including 20 rare or endangered species.
During your 45-minute encounter, a friendly and experienced zookeeper will introduce you to 3 charismatic critters. Perhaps you’ll stare into the yellow eyes of an owl, watch a slithery snake, or listen to the chirp of a guinea pig. Other animals you might encounter include toads, skunks, armadillos, hawks, and rabbits. No matter which three creatures you meet, your family will learn amazing facts about each. This is an interactive experience, so feel free to ask questions or snap a few photos!
