Enjoyable and informative tour of Mt. Rainier National Park! Knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide... Had several stops that included two short hikes. Light coffee/breakfast, hearty lunch, and lots of snacks.
We signed up for this trip in late May, where the weather was just starting to clear up consistently. I had planned on proposing to my future wife on this excursion, and had a planning discussion with our guide, Andrew, beforehand. He provided me with some ideas over where it could be performed, and assured me that it would not disrupt the experience for the rest of the group (there were 10 of us in total). On our drive to Mt. Rainier, Andrew provided us with commentary along the drive that was very interesting. As we were entering the park before the summer season, not all routes were open. Andrew stopped at some hiking trails along the way to Paradise (highest point that we reached), where he explained to us the different type of flora in the Pacific Northwest. To be honest, I normally have no interest in learning much about the life of trees, but after spending time looking at hundred year old trees that have trees within trees, I was very impressed. Andrew also took us to a few waterfalls along the way where the views were breathtaking. Upon reaching Paradise, Andrew prepared a lunch for us that was much better than you expected. It was a healthy gourmet lunch, with gluten and dairy free options (for those on dietary restrictions). He also brought us snow shoes, that allowed us to walk around in the snow while at Paradise. I highly recommend this trip, but also suggest that you call beforehand to see which routes of the park are open. If you are planning on visiting a glacier, you may only get to visit it during the summer.
Our guide was very friendly, knowledgable, and energetic. The entire event was very well thought out and we were able to experience a wide range of view of Mt. Rainier and the National Park. We were aided by a fantastic bit of weather that opened up incredible views of the mountain. The wildflowers were in full bloom, huckleberries were abundant, and the mountain impressed with it's sheer scale. Whether you've been to Mt. Rainier National Park before or not, you owe it to yourself to take this trip if you have the chance. I learned a lot about the park and mountain history. Oh, and lastly the snacks and lunch provided on the trip were top notch. Kudos all around to Evergreen Escapes.
