Old Town Food Tour in Alexandria

Terry was a personable and informative guide. Restaurants were varied and food selections plentiful. Loved learning more Old Town history.

The food tour was delicious and informative. Lynn, our guide, provided a fantastic historical perspective as well as lovely conversation along the way. The restaurants reflected different food styles in the area and offered substantial portions. We were lucky to have a small group, with one other well-traveled retired couple. That made for a really enjoyable time. We left full, happy, and smarter on Old Town, Alexandria!

The food tour was excellent! Our guide was pleasant, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable of the area. He guided us to each superb restaurant, giving us the history and folklore of Alexandria along the way!

Not only was it an adventure in going to new restaurants for new foods, but we heard historical stories and saw historical places along the way. Our guide and the others on the tour were absolutely amazing!

Pablo was a fantastic guide for our food journey through Alexandria. He met us on time and started our tour with a little historical background of the town. Through out the tour he took us not only to some amazing restaurants but he also stopped along the routes to tells us more about the history of the area and pointed out some pretty neat features.

This tour was a great way to spend an afternoon with my sister, who was visiting from California. Adreanna was our tour guide on a cold, brisk Virginia day. Our group consisted of three retirees, one semi-retired person, and four American University undergraduates. Adreanna was able to relate to all of us. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and full of interesting bits of history and anecdotes about the city of Alexandria. The walking tour stopped at four restaurants, all new to me, and the dishes served were both filling and very good. There was no need for dinner that evening!

Very knowledgeable guide. The Norwegian salmon was out of this world! The final stop (for dessert) was a bit commercial, but the others were wonderful.

We enjoyed all the restaurants that we stopped at to eat. The staff at the restaurants were friendly, and we were seated quickly. Portion sizes of the food that we ate were good. We finished the tour satisfied.

Our history and tasting tour of Old Town Alexandria was fantastic, and we would recommend the experience to anyone --- especially those who might question whether or not this type of adventure is right for them. It was an interesting, fun, and delicious afternoon in a beautiful city with something for everyone. Our tour guide, Gerson, was very knowledgeable about Alexandria and outlying areas. He provided a well-paced, seamless experience, interesting historical information with photos and handouts, and a few funny factoids only a local would know. We visited four tasty eateries, and we were so stuffed --- we were happy to have such a fantastic city to walk it off. Many thanks to Gerson who answered all our questions and gave us great ideas to try with the time we had left in the city. We look forward to future Cloud 9 Living experiences.

My overall experience was GREAT. Lynn was an awesome tour guide with great knowledge of the town and restaurants we visited. She was a sweet and kind person. Every tour guide should be like Lynn. When we book our next event, we will definitely be requesting Ms. Lynn. Thanks for a great experience!

This was our first food tour and we had a great time! Our guide was fun and knew a lot of history about our town. We are definitely gifting this for Christmas!

It was a lot of fun. Met new people, learned a little history, and had good food. Our tour guide did a nice job. Go hungry!

Pablo (our tour guide) was very personable, well-spoken and knowledgeable about the Alexandria area. The chosen restaurants were top-notch and all the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the salmon with chorizo and succotash, ravioli, and choices of desserts. Pablo’s knowledge of the area was superb, and it was enlightening to hear about the history of residences and public areas. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to going on another one soon, as combining history of the area and great food is a delicious combination.

Pablo with DC metro Food Tours was great. He knows the area well and provided us with amazing information about Old Town Alexandria, its history, the people who settled the town, and the current "hot spots." The restaurants selected on the tour were varied and offered excellent samples of their menus.

We had a great time walking aorund Old Town and eating at the local resturants. Katie was an excellent guide with tons of knowledge and made the whole day very fun.

The overall experince was very good. However, we were not impressed with the last restaurant/bakery on the tour named Bittersweet. The quality of the desserts was not worthy of a food tour. Others in the group felt the same. Also, the advertisement for the tour stated that we would be visiting a few ethnic restaurants such as Greek, Lebanese,Thai, but most of our venues, although very good, were American fare. A little more variey would have been nice.

The location, the quality of the food, the knowledge and personality of the guide and the size of the group were perfect for the occasion. Old Town Alexandria has a lot of history, the architecture is great and the ability to walk to every location in a reasonable matter of time and ease was definitely worth the trip. Add the quality of the all the dining experiences, this was a great day! The planning of having the first meal a full meal, with the following 2 experiences light tastings and the last stop a dessert satisfier was well done. All the dining experiences were of top quality and the different settings and styles made each stop a new and fun adventure. And, the friendly/efficient vendor service was great! We'd recommend all the establishments to others. The settings were not rushed and Chris, our guide, provided great insights at each place as well as facilitating interesting conversation among the attendees. Chris was the topping that brought the food tour together. Immense knowledge of the local history, characters and architecture mad the journey from each vendor to the next as enjoyable as the meals themselves. Plus, his sense of humor and his ability to generate conversation with each of the attendees plus encourage conversation among ourselves was more than we expected. A great experience! What would have been nice was to receive a listing of the historical sites/landmarks pointed out on tour so we could visit later and also a list of the restaurants we visited - again so that we could go back to them Thanks Sandra Fulton and Yvette Dietrich

The Alexandria food tour was well planned, the group was friendly and congenial. tour guide was very knowledgeable, easy to talk with. overall lots of fun and great food. opened our eyes to some places we'd like to go back to. Since this was a gift, and we didn't pay, can't really address that aspect. but from my perspective, a very fun and worthwhile way to spend an afternoon.

This is a great intro to Alexandria. notbonly do you get a nice lttle food tour, you learn abiut the town.

We really enjoyed the day. And would recommend this as a gift or just something to do to others. It was a fun day. We enjoyed the others on the tour with us and our guide Dina was just delightful.

Lynn was wonderful. She shared her love of history with us as we walked around Old Town. The first restaurant was perfect...very old school and befitting of the area. The others, not so much. I took one star away because it would have been nice to experience a few more traditional spots. Overall, though, wonderful!

The experience was good. Since it was so busy out, it would have been helpful if the tour guide had a sign. I also think there should have been more options to account for dietary restrictions.

The tour guide Terry was excellent. He knew his history and kept the entire experience rolling. The first and third restaurant were great, the Mediterranean restaurant was not that great.

Well done ... fortunately, the weather was perfect for walking.

Lynn, our guide, was fun, informative and added a lot to the experience. The food was great at the Landini Restsurant and Columbia Firehouse. The Pita House, however, had potential, but the food seemed as if they plated it early and it sat under a hot lamp for a bit. It didn't compare to the other venues.

Good restaurants. Historical narrative was excellent, captivating and informative. Overall a great day. Old Town Alexandria is amazing for a food tour.

We had wonderful weather, Alexandria was delightful, and the food was delicious. I expected to learn a little more about Alexandria. Our group was small which made the tour about three hours.

Food was great and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the area. But there was almost no interaction with the restaurant owners or staff. It would have been better if we knew more about the food and why they served us what they did.

Very large group. Food was ok, but nothing special. The guide found it difficult to tell an exciting story. He had limited knowledge on food/ restaurant scene in Alexandria / DC. Seemed knowledgeable on history, but visitors were not too interested in it. Large group/ large table made it difficult to hear the guide.
