We had such a fun visit to the San Antonio Aquarium in the downtown mall! The holiday touches were adorable Christmas lights and candy cane decorations inside the tanks made everything feel festive and magical. My 2-year-old niece was completely captivated, and the whole family loved exploring together. The aquarium has a ton of really cool animals, including a fascinating touch tank that sparked lots of “oohs” and “ahhs.” There’s also a playground area, which was perfect for little ones to burn some energy, and a gift shop with fun souvenirs to take home. The space never felt overwhelming, which made it easy to enjoy at a relaxed pace. It was a bit warm inside probably from all the open tanks but it didn’t take away from the experience. Overall, a fantastic outing for families with young kids!

What happens on the day
Embark on an exciting, underwater voyage and come face-to-fin with stingrays, sharks, seahorses, and so much more!
Upon arrival, you’ll have access to 10 different and interactive exhibits. Kick off your underwater journey by meeting the locals. Encounter native-to-Texas species and see if you can point out the toothy grin of a spotted gar.
Your marine adventure will continue as you pass through the harbor, a seahorse nursery, technicolor coral reefs, and more. Then, step out onto a sandy beach and meet 5 different species of stingray! Learn about these mesmerizing creatures and watch as they glide gracefully through the water. Can you spot the adorably unique cownose stingray?
Before the day is over, you’ll also discover the enchanting world of rockpools. Touch and interact with rainbow-hued sea stars, anemones, and more! Wander through San Antonio’s only underwater ocean tunnel. Dip below the ocean’s surface and feel a wave of excitement as you’re suddenly surrounded by hundreds of sea creatures. Take a selfie with a shark, watch schools of tropical fish, and so much more!
