What happens on the day
Dallas is most well-known for its BBQ and beef, dating all the way back to the days when cattle was king and cowboys worked the land under open skies. But on this 3-hour walking food tour, you’ll discover how the city has since expanded its culinary horizons with gastronomic influences from all over the world.
The Deep Ellum area embodies the city’s early roots, boasting historically protected buildings with no high-rises around. Stroll down art-filled streets as you take in unimpeded views of Downtown Dallas and root yourself in the evolution of this great southern city. The Deep Ellum neighborhood is also home to impressive old warehouses and buildings that have been transformed into some of the best restaurants in the city.
Passionate and experienced guides will take you on a food journey through flavors influenced by all of the cultures that have immigrated to Dallas. From Native American and Mexican dishes to Eastern European, South American and everything in between, you’ll taste the world. Try out dishes like spicy chili con carne, "cowboy style" BBQ, and modern twists on southern staples.
Be sure to come hungry because – like the saying goes – everything’s bigger in Texas!

Customer Reviews
our guide, Anna, was great. Very easy going, informative, read the group well, made adjustments when needed. I have been on food tours in other venues, and NEVER have I been asked to share food with other tour group members. For what we pay for these tours, we should all get our own dishes. Also, one of the foods was a Frito Pie. Really? We make those at home all the time. Didn't need a food tour for that... Revolver Tacos was a top notch stop as well as Pecan Lodge BBQ. The other stops were so-so and one wasn't that was supposed to be on the tour wasn't even open.
Response from Virgin Gifts
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re delighted to hear that Anna made such a positive impression as your guide, and we’re glad you enjoyed stops like Revolver Tacos and Pecan Lodge BBQ. We understand your concerns regarding the shared dishes, and we sincerely apologise if this detracted from your experience. While this approach allows guests to sample a variety of items, we appreciate that it might not align with everyone’s expectations, especially if you’ve experienced different setups on other tours. As for the inclusion of Frito Pie, we can certainly appreciate your feelings, especially since it’s a familiar dish for you. However, part of the tour’s goal is to offer a variety of foods, including regional favourites, as this might be someone else’s first opportunity to try it. We’re sorry this addition contributed to your disappointment. It’s also regrettable that one of the scheduled stops wasn’t open during your tour, and we apologise for this oversight. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we’ll ensure it’s shared with our team to help improve future experiences - Kay
