Your tour will start at a Slave Haven site where you will learn about Memphis’s involvement in the Underground Railroad. See places used to help runaway slaves escape and hear the incredible, harrowing, and true stories of slaves that escaped to freedom. Your expert guide will provide all of this and more, answering any questions you may have about the history, location, or cultural impact. From there, you'll discover the impact of Memphis on the Civil Rights Movement. You'll visit the historic Mason Temple, where Martin Luther King Jr. gave one of his many iconic speeches, as well as the Lorraine Motel where he was assassinated. In between, you'll visit the National Civil Rights Museum where you can learn everything you could want to know about the progress of Civil Rights in the United States. Read the names and accounts of its key players, and develop a deeper appreciation of this rich history and the city’s many contributing members.
