Located near Brookings, Oregon, the Chetco River boasts some of the cleanest water on the coast. Explore these magical waters from the seat of a tandem kayak on this fully guided tour!
Your adventurous day begins when you meet your professional and experienced guide in Brookings. They’ll equip you with a PFD and set of paddles before showing you to your sit-on-top kayak. This style of kayak is sturdy, easy to get into, and perfect for beginners. Start by paddling around a calm boat basin where you can admire commercial fishing boats, Coast Guard vessels, and personal watercrafts.
Then, discover the Chetco River estuary. Estuaries are unique ecosystems where rivers meet the sea. Their nutrient-rich waters and surrounding wetlands provide incredible wildlife-watching opportunities. Spot brown pelicans as they dive for fish, listen to the screech of an osprey, look for playful river otters, and so much more.

- Participants must be at least 3 years old
- Paddlers under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult in a tandem kayak
- Combined weight cannot exceed 525 pounds
- It is highly recommended that all paddlers know how to swim

What will I see on this tour?
You can see a variety of wildlife like river otters, muskrat, weasels, harbor seals, and tons of birds like eagles, osprey, great blue heron, hawk, and kingfisher.
Are wildlife sightings guranteed?
No. These animals are wild and their exact location cannot be guaranteed. However, the chances of seeing harbor seals, birds, and other coastal critters is very high.
Do I need previous experience?
No. However, it is recommended that all paddlers know how to swim.
