Just beyond the bustling city of Asheville lies a lush natural landscape that includes rivers, lakes, and the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. You’ll venture into this wilderness, led by an expert, naturalist guide, for an unforgettable encounter with nature. This kayaking tour is the ideal way to learn about Asheville’s flora, fauna, and the wildlife that call it home.
You will meet at the Asheville Visitor Center where you'll meet your guide, receive a basic instruction overview, and then board your complimentary transportation to the launch site. Be prepared to have your breath taken away by the resplendent Lake James, a massive reservoir in the mountains surrounded by lush forests, steep ridges, and mountains rolling into the distance. With assistance from your guide, you'll launch into the water for a day of paddling fun! See if you can spot some local wildflowers, including Passion Flower, Indian Pipe, and Cardinal Flower. You may also have the chance to see some of the local wildlife, which includes green heron, flying squirrels, deer, red fox, and more!
This experience gives you the chance to ride on a tandem, sit-on-top kayak, which are much friendlier to beginners. However, your WNC certified naturalist guide will ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone, and can handle any questions or concerns that may come up. Life vests and any other necessary equipment is provided for you, so all you have to bring is your adventurous spirit! Your guide will share stories about the land and its many marvels, so you walk away from your adventure with a deeper appreciation of Asheville’s natural landscape.

Cancellation Policy
Once you have received a booking confirmation, cancellations and rescheduling are allowed up to 48 hours prior to the experience. Failure to appear on your booked date or to cancel and reschedule at least 48 hours prior to your booked date will result in the loss of the value of your experience. In the event that your tour is cancelled due to inclement weather, maintenance issues, or unforeseen circumstances, you will be able to reschedule directly with the experience provider.
