What happens on the day
Get ready to turn raw steel into a functional work of art!
Designed for beginners, this 4-hour class will guide you through the art and science of crafting your own custom knife. Begin by firing up a propane forge to heat your steel rebar until it's red-hot. With the help of hammers and anvils, shape the blade to your desired profile—it's a fun and exhilarating workout! Once you’ve forged the rough shape, use a grinder to refine the blade and form the bevel, creating the core of its cutting edge.
Next, harden your blade by heating it up and quenching it in oil, a process that involves fiery excitement as your knife transforms. After a short break to let it cool, put the final touches on your new creation—wrap the handle and sharpen it to a razor edge.
By the end, you'll leave with a stunning, handcrafted survival knife and a newfound appreciation for the craft!
