What happens on the day
Mauna Kea is the second highest island peak on the earth and the highest point in the Pacific. This summit is an awesome place to view the sunset and night sky from!
The summit of Mauna Kea is one of the best places for stargazing, and you will be able to do so in comfort. You will be picked up from one of the offered locations and driven to the summit in a comfortable 4x4 passenger van. It can get mighty cold on the mountain at night so you will be provided with jackets and gloves if you didn’t bring your own. Snacks and hot beverages add to the overall enjoyment as watch the magnificent sunset this vantage point offers. Your experienced local guide will tell you about Big Island’s extraordinary history and share their knowledge of the night sky with you. You will have an opportunity to feel closer to the planets and stars as you gaze at the heavens through a professional Celestron telescope. Your guide will point out the two that took the first photo of a black hole.
