What happens on the day
Explore the world-famous Napa Valley wine country with a combo bike and kayak group tour. Cycle along country roads interspersed with sun-soaked vineyards, then trade in your bike for a kayak and glide down the scenic Russian River.
Kick things off when you meet up with your friendly and knowledgeable local guide, who will outfit you with a specialized hybrid bike and gear. Get the rules of the road and details about the day before setting off on a quiet, leisurely ride into Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley. Visit a winery, where you’ll taste local California flavors and enjoy a delicious gourmet picnic lunch.
After lunch, swap out your bike for a kayak and put in on the lazy Russian River. Glide along its gentle current and hone your paddling skills on a few mild Class I rapids. The river winds through wine country and is filled with opportunities to see birds and wildlife and spots to dive into the water for a refreshing swim.

How long is the tour?
The tour will last about 5 hours. The bike route is mainly flat with a few rolling hills along the way. The kayak tour is an easy paddle along the slow-moving Russian River with only mild Class I rapids.
Are there wine tasting fees and how much do they cost?
This tour tries to choose wineries that do not charge, but sometimes it is unavoidable. Wine tasting fees vary per person per winery. In most cases you can share a taste (one glass) with another member of your group and many wineries will reimburse your tasting fee if you make an additional purchase.
What types of bikes will we be using? What about clips?
This tour uses specialized cross trail hybrid bikes with upright handlebars for comfort. They come with a front bag to store your personal items. You can also choose from touring and road bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers and tandems. Please let Virgin Experience Gifts know at the time of booking if you would prefer to use one of these other bikes. There is a limited supply of clip-less pedals, or the provider can remove pedals so you can attach your own.
What food will be served for lunch? What about dietary restrictions?
The meal is a gourmet wine country style picnic. The menu varies due to what is in season locally, but examples of items served are: pasta salad with sun dried tomatoes, pesto and artichoke hearts; tossed green salads with in-season vegetables; and local artisan cheeses. Please let Virgin Experience Gifts know of any dietary restrictions at the time of booking to see if special accommodations can be made.

Cancellation Policy
Once you have received a booking confirmation, cancellations are allowed at least 72 hours prior with a cancellation fee per person or a reschedule with no additional fees. Failure to appear on your booked date or to cancel and reschedule at least 72 hours prior to your booked date will result in the loss of the value of your experience.
