Fascinating history, notable landmarks and global food await as you stroll the tree-lined streets and explore off-the-beaten-path eateries.This tour explores the very beginnings of Sacramento, from Sutter’s colony Nueva Helvecia to food tastings in current at local hidden gems! You’ll learn about how the many diverse immigrant groups forged this great city and created its agricultural dominance as you eat, drink and stroll.

Our Local Roots tour guide Dawnie was very personable and informative. The food and wine restaurant selections happened to be great choices for our tastes. Since we don't drink coffee, Dawnie switched up the tasting to gelato instead. Seeing a few of Sacramento's murals/street art was delightful! After the tour, we were near Sutter's Fort but didn't know how to find it, so she walked us over to the location. Very helpful for a future excursion. It was a beautiful sunny January day in Sacramento, so the weather shouldn't be a concern to others planning a walking tour here.
