What happens on the day
Experience one of the purest forms of flying on this 2-hour scenic glider ride as you soar with the birds in silent flight!
Meet up with your professional pilot for a pre-flight safety briefing on the self-launching glider, then buckle up and get ready for take-off. In just a few thrilling seconds, you’ll go from the runway to the air, and then you’re off on an aerial adventure like no other.
Feel the adrenaline rush as you climb high into the air. Chat with your pilot and ask questions about the aircraft and the awe-inspiring views. Enjoy fantastic views of the Catalina, Rincon, Santa Rita, and Saguaro National Parks along with the Davis-Monthan aircraft “bone yard” and Native American sacred mountains. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife – you may even spot the ever-elusive wild horses.
If the weather conditions are right, your pilot will treat you to thermal soaring – or “surfing the ridges” – as it’s better known. And if you’re feeling daring, take over the controls and try your hand at flying the glider yourself.

Experience Vouchers that have not been redeemed can be returned hassle-free within 14 days. All refunds will be made to the original purchaser.
Exchanges
Experience Vouchers that have not been redeemed can be exchanged for anything else in our marketplace at any time. If you choose to exchange for an experience that costs more, you'll simply have to pay the difference. If you choose to exchange for an experience that costs less, you'll have a credit towards your next booking with Virgin Gifts.
Cancellation Policy
Once you have received a booking confirmation, cancellations and rescheduling are allowed up to 72 hours prior to the experience. Failure to appear on your booked date or to cancel and reschedule at least 72 hours prior to your booked date will result in the loss of the value of your experience.
In the event that your tour is cancelled due to inclement weather, you will be able to reschedule directly with the experience provider.

Very unique experience, first time flying in a "self-powered" glider! Was neat to learn about it, and the takeoff and landing were certainly unique. The best part of the experience was catching thermals and gaining altitude AFTER the engine was shut off and the prop feathered. Timing is important for the heating and making sure there are thermals to catch, and it was really cool to be able to actively fly the aircraft! I would need many more lessons in this aircraft before I felt comfortable taking off and landing, but overall it was an excellent experience!
