What happens on the day
Looking for something new to do with family and friends? Just download this exciting app, and your smartphone becomes a portal to adventure in whatever city you’re in!
When the game begins, you'll receive a scavenger hunt list of items to find around town. It could be anything from a fire hydrant or lamp post to a fountain or famous memorial. Each item will be accompanied by a riddle or challenge. Once you’ve solved the riddle, send in a photo to get points. The more challenges you solve, the more points you get. And they’ll show up on the app’s leaderboard, so you can track your progress with teams playing in other cities.
If you get stuck, just reach out to your remote game host through the app’s chat feature. They can give you hints and maybe even an extra mystery challenge.
Because you have all the information you need on your phone, you can press pause to grab a bite to eat or rest, then pick up where you left off. An exciting city adventure awaits. Are you ready to take it on?

Cancellation Policy
Once you have received a booking confirmation, cancellations and rescheduling are allowed prior to the experience. Failure to appear on your booked date or to cancel and reschedule will result in the loss of the value of your experience.

Fun activity that could be done in any city
I was skeptical of how the interactive photo scavenger hunt would go given how little information there is about how it works provided at the time of purchase. However, it basically worked out well and made for a fun time for our family of 6 - from 7 to 70 years old. What I wished I would have known ahead of time is: when you purchase, you get a code. When you want to redeem the code, you need to go to the website for City Fun Group. It's confusing that the name of the product on the Virgin site is not exactly the same as on the CFG site. When you do redeem the code, they email you info about the app to install (GooseChase) and how to log in and what team to join. At least for ours, we could have done this really at any time - didn't have to be at the time we wanted to start. The app worked well and has all the tasks. I signed up for 1 team but installed the app/logged in on multiple phones so that our group could split up and work on the mission list together. The missions are fairly city-generic so you could really do it from anywhere in a walkable city. We started at Embarcadero in San Francisco and only needed to go within a couple blocks in any direction to find basically everything - so not great for sightseeing a new city the way we did it - but you could also do this for/with kids throughout a day of visiting different sights. There looked to be about 8 teams playing the same game in different cities but that may be 8 teams ever because the game is self-guided and not timed so for example, days later our team is still on the leaderboard. You can see all of the other teams' pictures. Generally though - a fun, simple activity for all ages that leads to finding city details you wouldn't otherwise care about and taking a bunch of goofy photos. Good times.
We went as a family with 2 teenagers for a scavenger hunt in our city. We expected the locations and clues to be specific to the city and somewhat tied to it's history or some other significance. Instead most of them were too generic. We had to take pictures of parking signs, buildings like banks, police stations etc. Also the challenges were too silly for our age group. I think this experience is more for families with little kids where the kids play free so that you're not paying so much on an experience that doesn't feel like it is worth the cost.
