What happens on the day
Located in the northernmost deserts of Arizona, the White Pocket formation features twists of white, yellow, red, orange, and pink sandstone. It’s a landscape you have to see to believe!
Your all-day adventure kicks off with a convenient pick up from your hotel or accommodation in Kanab. Before zooming off into the desert, you’ll meet your knowledgeable guide aboard a comfortable, climate-controlled vehicle. From Kanab, you’ll head south and enjoy a scenic drive to Jacob Lake and over the Kaibab Plateau.
Once on House Rock Valley Road, you’ll pull over to “air down” the vehicle’s tires. Then, leave the pavement behind and venture into the sands of Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. You won’t believe your eyes as you are suddenly transported onto an alien planet. Stretch your legs and walk a couple hundred yards to the enchanting White Pocket formation.
Walk past odd, mushroom-like formations, pools, brain-shaped rocks, mesmerizing wave formations, and so much more. Along the way, you’ll learn about the powerful forces that helped form this otherworldly landscape. To keep you energized, you’ll enjoy complimentary snacks, water, and a delicious lunch out in the desert.

Do I need any hiking experience?
Guests should be able to walk a few hundred yards in sand and be comfortable walking on uneven terrain.
How long is the hike?
Since this is a private tour, the day's activities can be adjusted to fit your needs. However, on average, you will walk around 2 to 4 miles. At the very minimum, guests must be able to walk 250 yards across soft sand to get to a view of the formation. There is no way to see White Pocket from the car.
How much time is spent driving vs. hiking at White Pocket?
This is a 9-hour tour and the drive to White Pocket takes between 2-2.5 hours from Kanab. You will spend 3.5-4 hours at White Pocket hiking and eating lunch. You may also make brief stops along the route at viewpoints and places of interest.
Are there restrooms at White Pocket?
No. There are no facilities of any kind at White Pocket. However, there will be a couple of opportunities to use the facilities during your tour.
Are drones allowed on this tour?
Yes, but only directly above the formation as the area around White Pocket is wilderness! There is opportunity for incredible drone footage at White Pocket. When operating a drone on tours, please be mindful of other guests on the tour and other hikers who may be in the area.

Cancellation Policy
Once you have received a booking confirmation, no cancellations can be made. Rescheduling requests are allowed up to 30 days prior to the experience. Failure to appear on your booked date or to cancel and reschedule at least 30 days prior to your booked date will result in the loss of the value of your experience. In the event that your tour is cancelled due to inclement weather, maintenance issues, or unforeseen circumstances, you will be able to reschedule directly with the experience provider.
