Explore the stunning and historic Garden District!
Originally founded as the city of Lafayette in the 1830s and then made a part of New Orleans in 1853, this neighborhood was once the home of some of the wealthiest Americans! On this two-hour tour, you'll learn about classic New Orleans architecture from the 1830s to the 1880s, which includes such styles as Greek Revival, Victorian, and Intalianate. You'll learn about architects who designed some of the most famous and beautiful buildings in the area, and the people who lived in them. You'll also learn about the famous Lafayette Cemetery, which was started in 1833. During this portion of the tour, you'll learn why New Orleans buries their dead above ground, and discover the three types of tombs used.
This tour will transport you back in time with an immersive and detailed experience.
