In fact, 95% of Americans say they\u2019ve been on a horrible date, and the reasons are very relatable. Awkward conversation tops the list, with 50% of those surveyed citing it as a reason their date turned sour. In California, nearly half (46%) of daters share the same sentiment about awkward conversations ruining dates.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Other common complaints from respondents nationwide include being glued to a phone (35%), speaking about previous relationships (33%), rude behavior (31%), or a date who wouldn\u2019t stop talking about themselves (30%). In New York, people talking too much about themselves on dates is a major red flag, with 43% saying it ruined the night.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>When it comes to the gender divide, women are 18% more likely than men to be put off if a date is talking about themselves excessively. At the same time, Gen Z doesn\u2019t want to be asked out to mini golf, and Baby Boomers dislike bowling.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Dating is difficult enough, and adding activities people don\u2019t want to do can lead to burnout. Singles surveyed say they\u2019re tired of playing games (48%), being ghosted (47%), or always having to put in all the effort (45%).
